So long Ethiopia…until next time

Just spent one week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for work and managed to snap a few pictures while there. Apologies for the quality of the photos, but the conditions were not ideal. We visited an Orthodox church and the local market for fabric shopping, and I managed to attract some local inspiring models to pose for me. They were just lovely. Until next time when I can better explore this beautiful country with its beautiful people.

Have a beautiful weekend.

What a past year filled with colour and great memories! Although I haven’t had the time to keep up with the blog as I originally hoped to, it is still a great way to capture important events in our lives and present beautiful family design finds and meet the great people behind them! My 2014 schedule doesn’t look like it will be any calmer then 2013’s, but I look forward to the new adventures it may bring!

Ciao Italia!

Although it has been 4 weeks since coming back from holidays in Italy, I wanted share some wonderful locations where we stayed during our trip.

Agriturismo Cascina Barác is a lovely place to stay if you are visiting the Alba region in Piedmonte state. The gardens and plunging views of vineyards are amazing and the rooms are very nicely decorated and spacious. The owners and staff and very friendly and can recommend delicious restaurants in the region. Breakfast is served outside in a covered patio and the surroundings are very peaceful. We only stayed one night as we were heading down to the Tuscany beaches, but we definitely want to come back!

Agriturismo Le Peonie is another wonderful discovery for us located in Liguria. We stayed in the Clotilde apartment which was perfect for our family and beautifully renovated. Le Peonie is located in the countryside, but is only 15 minutes away from the beaches of Alassio. We preferred this option as the location is perfectly calm and a nice change from the turisty hotels in Alassio.  Alessia, the owner, is very helpful in assisting you with any questions and very sweet. Her parents who live near-by and neighbors are also very welcoming and come with armfuls of fruits and olives which they grow. There is a lovely garden for kids to play in and everything you need to make your stay comforable.

New York for grown ups

DSC_1000 DSC_0877 DSC_0875 DSC_0290

New York for us grown ups is always fun and so much to discover in terms of food and design. We were very happy to discover a few notable mentions during our stay including:

1. La Maison du Croque Monsieur (above), for a quick lunch bite and nice cheese melts!

2. The Chelsea Market, between 9th and 10th Aves and W. 15th and W. 16th Sts, a food court and much more!

3. Anfora bar in the West Village, where we stopped in a few times for some drinks before dinner.

In terms of stores, well, you have your pick . The only thing you need here is time and willing children to entertain your couriosity. I did find an interesting design store called Michele Varian downtown Manhattan. This is an interesting store that mixes new and vintage pieces in an eclectic way, a nice find.

Well that wraps up New York City. Next up Playtime Paris! Have a great week!
