Design events this week

It has been a rainy weekend in Geneva, but here are a few events to brighten up this week:

qdbThe next Nuit des Bains will take place on 2nd May, with open house the week-end of 4-5 May 2013. The Contemporary Art Association of the Quartier des Bains unites 15 galeries and 4 cultural institutions to encourage the art movement in this neighborhood of Geneva. You can download the official brochure here.

thumb-flyer-2013This year’s Les Puces du Design will take place 3-5 May 2013 in Morges and will focus on design in the USA. Exhibitors come from all over Suisse Romande and display their best vintage finds. I attended the 2012 edition and was really impressed by the number of exhibitors and the interest in this design era.

I wish everyone a great week!

London Again! Part IV

Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely Geneva weather while it lasts! To finish my series on my London visit early last month during the Meet the Blogger Conference, I will wrap up with some highlights of the design tour on the Sunday currated by the lovely Tina Berstein from Colour Living.

The first stop was at Tom Dixon, which was filled with lots of eye candy. I loved the selection of colour furniture pieces and the use of metal in accessories and lighting. It was a shame that it was so grey and rainy outside as the space must be splendid bathed in light.

Our next stop was Phoenix on Golborne, a really lovely (and romantic) design style that focuses on sourcing vintage furniture and restoration. They also have Annie Sloan chalk paint (I would have loved to have brought some back) and offer furniture painting lessons at the shop.

My final stop with the blogger group was Pedlars. We had a really great time here and Pedlars’ staff welcomed us with open arms. Pedlars is a unique store (on-line too) mixing vintage and new design products. They call it, ‘Wonderful Stuff for Your Home!’, and it is! Pedlars also carries the original Cambridge Satchel in beautiful colours (shown in green above) and offer Vintage Fridays which feature ‘new’ vintage finds each week.

Thank you again to all the Meet the Blogger London staff and contributors for making the weekend such a great experience!

Pop-up Store: Thalia & Bubu

So for the last few weeks I have been silent on the posts, but for a good reason: vacation! Our family adventure to the United States will be covered by a series of upcoming articles, mostly focusing on family design life in New York City.

Before leaving though, I visited our friends at Thalia & Bubu during their pop-up store event 20-21 March 2013 and discovered their new SS 2013 collection.

Adriani from Thalia &  Bubu was kind enough to let me take a few pics for the blog. I love the new styles this season and the colours are so vibrant: blues, yellows, corals and greens. I picked up a coral tie & dye summer dress for my daughter from Kidscase and the blue tie & dye sweatshirt from Talc for my son.

The pop-up store was also a chance to see the adorable children’s table from Les Moustaches de Charlie, which is the last picture above. Very cute!

I will be picking up the pace on posts in the next few days… but I’m still recovering from jet lag!

Have a great week!
